hi victor. the plaza ticket must have a very good election machine to get a majority win in this coming election. in the philippines, this machine is built  from commonly used "components" easily available to those mostly in power. money of course is the main component. the voting population who are mostly poor, are easily bought. also with the use of goons and guns, the voters can be easily intimidated and give away their votes. there are many other cheating tactics that can be employed to obtain a win.

why are you so sure of the majority win of the plaza ticket? is it because the people of butuan are happy with their performance as current administrators of the city?

yes, victor's crystal ball is as clear as the water coming from the taguibo watershed. water which for now remains undrinkable. is the current administration fit to get another term despite its failure of providing the people of Butuan drinking tap water? Roll Eyes

hay ang mga plaza na yan, makakapal ang mga mukha. dapat tumigil na sila. they should give it to somebody else. may pera lang sila but incompetent. sobrang kurakot. among the major cities in mindanao, butuan lags behind. no match sa CDO, Davao, Gensan at Zamboanga samantalang almost a thousand year old na. haaayyyyyyy......... state universities are funded by the national government. NORMISIST is a state college. local governments help by giving additional funding as it see fit.

tertiary level education is not part of the basic education. high school, elementary and preschool lang and part sa basic education...

you know what? you can post all your ideas to a single thread. so we can deal with your inputs better...

have a nice day...  Smiley

the 2010 elections is heating up more so after the brutal massacre in maguindanao allegedly masterminded by the ampatuans - the current administrators in that region. those who are in power will employ any means to continue their hold on power. i just pray that no one will use violence to gain victory and these coming months leading to the may elections will be peaceful.

"O learned one, in this iron age of Kali men have but short lives. They are quarrelsome, lazy, misguided, unlucky and, above all, always disturbed." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 1.1.10)

this is a description of men born in our current age as described by an ancient text. just looking at the recent events in the last four months, i can say that we really are always disturbed. not so long ago, ondoy and pepeng brought so much devastation and death in luzon. this week, mount mayon has again hit the headlines and a major eruption is expected within a few days. thousands of families have now been evacuated. their lives disrupted and facing months away from home staying in evacuation centers. all these natural catastrophies are unpreventable. we have no control over them. however, there are other misfortunes that befell us that we could have prevented. these are miseries caused by our elected leaders. by their corrupt practices, abuse of power, inexperience, and incompetence, they bring about sufferings to our country. these sufferings coud be avoided or at least minimized if the voters use their heads during elections.

joyen had previously posted a list of candidates from different parties. i am very much interested with the opposition candidates. can anyone provide some helpful information about these candidates? their background - some sort of resume perhaps. it is good for the voting public to be given a good reason why they should vote for the opposition. in other words, why a change of government is for the betterment of butuan. i am sure the current administration/officials are themselves convinced that they have done a good job and deserve another term.

it's seems traffic in this forum is so quite in the last few days. indeed, the christmas spirit has overpowered the election madness. but i'm sure in early january, the election fever will be up again.

merry christmas to everyone and a happy new year.

by philippine standards, the May election is just around the corner. for the presidential and senatorial candidates, four or five months of campaign is just not enough considering the many islands to cover. i have heard/seen just one time, a debate between the presidential bets on Youtube just before christmas and i think senator Gordon would make a good president. hearing about his track record, i am convinced he can make a real change for the Philippines.

this is just my humble opinion my friends. just trying to stir up this thread as it has become so quite for a while now.

There is no real interest in elections right now. People will get active only when the money starts coming. This is from city government budget. It's loaded with projects in tourism development. As head of city tourism, Daisy Plaza will be the official to deal with contractors. The same bunch who know SOP. Under Maám Daisy and Maám Ayet, it's already not for the boys, It's already for the girls!  Cheesy

that's girl power...this is very interesting..

what do you mean by "when the money starts coming"? is the money coming from madam daisy's own pocket? or is it the public's own money? and when "it starts coming", who's benefiting from it?

it's quite ironic hearing the government's boasting of the modern automated system to be introduced for the first time in this coming May elections and at the same time hearing the existence of an ancient group with their proven failed ideology trying to influence the outcome of this coming election. i am sure they will also use their main source of power - their guns.

other expected violent incidence in some places will be brought about by the little ampatuans spread all over the caraga region. the watch list posted by Joyen makes me conclude, that a fair and peaceful election in the Philippines is still generations away.
