MANY HAPPY RETURNS RAY.  RETURNING TO IAH MAR 29 AND HOPE TO RETURN TO BXU FOR THE FIESTA CELEBRATION OF BUTUAN CITY FIESTA.  YOUR FOOT MUST BE ITCHING TO STEP ON OUR BELOVED BALANGAY HOLY GROUNDS.

YANO

Yano, You are exactly right, my foot is now itching to step on our "Balangay holy grounds". I am not sure exactly what date I'll be going to Butuan. My initial plan is around the first week of May.
I've heard you were admitted to the hospital recently, but doing fine now. You take care, old man!
Rene & Liwanag, Ray & Rose, Josette, Yanyan came for an overnight stay in our house on the island. I gave them a tour on the island of what happened when "Hurricane Ike" hit last year and the devastation it caused. Our house was flooded up to six feet high and everything inside got damaged. Thank God that we're okay now and the recovery is coming along just fine.
By the way, my 4th book is now in the hands of the editor. You are in there again. I told stories of many Filipino experiences in the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard who I thought deserved and worthy to be told. One story was about a pinoy started as a mess boy and retired full commander in the Coast Guard and Chess champion in the U.S. Armed Forces Tournament and made the cover of the U.S. Chess Federation Magazine.  Very impressive! It'd be published in about couple of months from now. I'll let you know when.
We'll  see you and Harolyn when you come back to Texas.

So BXU is no longer the "Timber City" of the Phil., but renamed by YanoM as the "Balangay Holy Grounds"
Cheers, and God Bless to all  the January celebrants...

THANKS!

Just want to say thank you for remembering me on my birthday. Wow! Surely I'm old if I'd tell you my age, but I want to believe that I'm still young. I have to double up taking resveratrol and plenty of exercise to support my belief and not being embarrassed.
Thank you, Jody, Myrna, OscarCardenas, Oscar Calo, ARt & Chit, The pretty Guillen sisters, NonoyT, VicD, Rose & RayG,Harold, Sweet Joanie,Yano, Alice, Gaby. I think I missed to mention a few more. I forgot to save the names before I deleted their greetings. Sorry, but thank you.

A video tribute to Tony M. Montalban on his retirement
Reply #370 - Feb 13th, 2010, 9:28pm

Video dedicated to Dr. Tony M. Montalban
(Chairman of the Board of Trustees - BUTUAN GLOBAL FORUM, INC.)
on his retirement from the Philippine General Hospital (PGH)

Dr. Antonio Montalban: Celebrating 40 Years of Service and Life's Creative Work

Please click on the link below to watch an 8:58 minute video on Dr. Tony M. Montalban
made by his nephew in honor of his retirement from PGH last year -

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dOKVkjwPfmE&]feature=player_embedded#

September 15, 2009

In October of 2008, I visited the Montalban ancestral estate in Masao, Butuan City, Philippines. The home is situated on an aqua farm close to the mouth of the Masao River in Northern Mindanao and thirty minutes away from Butuan City proper. Masao, or anciently known as the Kingdom of "Mazaua", is supposedly the definitive localization of the First Mass of the Philippines and Magellan's first step on Philippine soil.

Over the years, Dr. Antonio Montalban has commissioned the creation of paintings that attempt to capture pre-Colonial and Colonial history of his heritage and native Butuanon roots.

Collectively, the paintings and furnishings of the Montalban estate illustrate moments in time so vital to Philippine culture.

By request, the last half of the video is a favorite song of Dr. Antonio Montalban, accompanied by a slideshow and lyrics in the background. This video will be featured as a tribute to his life's creative work during his retirement reception this coming October 2009.

Dr. Antonio Montalban has been an Orthopaedic Surgeon in Manila for 40 years.
